Listen up gate buyers. These gates were made in the 1980s using slow grown spruce, unlike gates made today from fast grown wood. Slow grown wood is HEAVY, BECAUSE IT IS DENSE, LIKE HARDWOOD. Slow grown wood will last twice as long as softwood. Go and have a look at any gates made today and pick one up, light as a feather. Then come and pick one of these gates up. You will soon learn which is the quality gate, made from quality wood. These gates have been dry stored in a garage since they were made. They have never been hung, but they have had something painted on top of them, Cuprinol, which has bled down on to parts of them. It matters not, as you are going to stain them further, in the colour of your choice, to protect them, surely. As you can see, they have a rebate. If you are looking for a pair of quality picket gates, don’t let these get away.
