For strength your driveway gate will be traditionally mortice and tenoned Including the spindles. We glue the mortice and tenons with professional exterior wood glue to help prevent water ingress. We also use wooden dowels through the Traditional Mortice and Tenon for added strength. Mortice and tenons date back over 7,000 years and are still one of the strongest methods to join two pieces of timber at 90 degrees. The timber is machine planed smooth from 100mm X 50mm rough sawn timber. The driveway gates are hand made and can be made to fit your existing frame or posts if required. The gates are designed to be side hung. For Bi-fold gates please go to my bi-fold listing by looking at my other items for sale or going to my shop. We use 110mm X 15mm tongue & groove boarding, the boarding is then fixed with professional exterior wood glue and secret pinned. Board quantity and widths may vary on different width gates. Colour and knot content can vary. Your cottage gate will be supplied untreated ready to treat with the colour and type of treatment you desire. The main picture shows chamfered horns, round horns, flat top and 45 degree horns are shown in the pictures that are in the drop down boxes. The spindle number varies depending on width.
